Farewell Dinner for the Korean Exchange Students
The eleven Korean exchange students who came to Lander University are returing at the end of April. Friendship Families, Deans, Provosts, President & Mrs. Ball came out to dinner and made the function more honored. Korean students presented slide shows and videos about their life at Lander and expressed their appreciation to people who helped them to make their life fruiful and enjoyable.
Dinner hosted by Dr. & Mrs. Sam Tolbert
Sixteen Lander International students from Korea and China were invited to dinner at Dr. & Mrs. Sam Tolbert’s home on March 11, 2012.
Dr. Tolbert is professor in the Department of Business, and he’s currently teaching the Business Administration 101 class having five Korean students.
"It was our pleasure to open our home to you all. We rarely do any entertaining but wanted to show our appreciation to the wonderful students you have brought to our campus. I personally appreciate the work you are doing to open the world to Lander and for us to broaden our international experiences." Dr. Tolbert said after this gathering.
International students and staff in Office of International Programs truly appreciated their warm hospitality and great food they prepared for us. His house was in the middle of woods and beside of the scenic pond. When we walked into his house, a cute sheep dog, Bonnie welcomed us, and collections of Kachina dolls hanging on the wall made the atmosphere of the house more exotic.
The theme of dinner was “Mexican Stack On.” Thankfully, they printed menu including instructions for how to eat the Mexican food for those who haven't tried Mexican food yet.
After enjoying dinner, we had a mini concert for appreciating their invitation. Those talented boys played guitar and sang American songs and Korean songs to share their happiness and gratefulness with one another.
Being far away from home, International students could feel like being home here in the US, and they were warmly welcomed by the American community. Thank you, Dr. & Mrs. Sam and Margo Tolbert!
