Lander International students and visiting scholars were invited to the reception hosted by People to People International (PTPI) Greenwood Chapter. Ms. Connie Edwards, President of the Greenwood Chapter invited us for the reception and made us connected to the Greenwood community more closer. The reception was specially arranged to recognize Mr. Gene Shirley for his Lifetime Achievement Award. Thanks to Ms. Suzy Holloway's opening of her Puppet House, we enjoyed looking around the house and meet exotic and creative puppets from all over the world. Thank you for the invitation and wish the best luck for People to People International! Your community service and good will truly make difference in the world as well as in Greenwood and Lander.

Lander University is so honor to serve the first Fulbright scholar through Junior Faculty Development Program assisted by the State of South Carolina. The name of Visiting Scholar is Ms. Munavar Zaripova. She is from Tajikistan in the Central Asia, situated between Afghanistan and China. She serves as a professor 


Adding Ms. Zaripova in the Lander community allows the city of Greenwood as well as Lander to have more cultural and educational opportunity to enrich our life. 

Currently, she is taking many different academic courses ranging from English to American History to enable her to teach her students back in Tajikistan to learn more dynamic views of the world as well as the United States from her experience.

The 10-member delegation from Shanghai Normal University visited Lander University from November 14 through 18. Shanghai Normal University is one of Lander's actively exchanging sister institutions in China. The five Student Affairs staff and five excellent Student Union students comprehended the academics and school programs at Lander to the fullest via campus tour, deans' meetings and the presentation delivered by the Student Affairs at Lander. Their visit to Lander strengthened the exchange programs between Shanghai Normal and Lander and gave Lander an opportunity to get to know more about Shanghai Normal University. 

The first Chinese students at Lander University presented their culture, food, history, and more on the the presentation on China. The Culture Exchange: China was the first presentation of the Culture Exchange series. It turned out to be successful as many Lander students and faculty showed up. The Chinese students displayed the traditional Tibetan dance, Taiji performance, and traditional songs. They were so talented! You should watch their performance. The Office of International Programs participated in the first Open House event in the fall semester. Many potential high school students and parents visited our booth, and it turned out to be successful as many people came by our booth and we could give diverse study-abroad opportunities to them.
